Electrical Charger/Inverter Combos
An inverter/charger combines an inverter and a battery charger in one unit. On shore or generator power it passes AC through to your outlets and charges the batteries; when that power disappears it switches to inverting from the batteries automatically.
Victron's MultiPlus and Quattro are popular choices for boats, skoolies and vans. Our Victron basics guide explains how they fit with MPPT solar controllers, a SmartShunt and a Cerbo GX.

Electrical Charger/Inverter Combos FAQ
Inverter/charger or separate inverter and charger?
A combo unit saves space and wiring and handles the switchover between shore and battery power automatically. Separate units can make sense if you only need a small inverter or already have a charger.
Does it work with lithium batteries?
Most current units offer configurable charge profiles. Set them to match your battery manufacturer's specifications.
Can I monitor it remotely?
Many models can be monitored and configured via Bluetooth or a system monitor such as Victron's GX devices. Check the product's listed features.
Who should install it?
AC wiring and high-current DC connections should follow the manufacturer's manual and applicable standards. If you're not confident, have a qualified electrician install it.
