Switches & Accessories
Switches control power to individual circuits and to entire battery banks. Battery switches let you isolate or combine batteries; panel and rocker switches control lights, pumps and accessories.
Make sure any switch is rated for the voltage and current of the circuit, and for DC if it's on a DC system. Battery switches should be easy to reach in an emergency.

Switches & Accessories FAQ
What does a battery switch do?
It disconnects or selects battery banks, so you can isolate power when the boat or vehicle is unattended or in an emergency.
Do switches replace fuses or breakers?
No. A switch only turns a circuit on or off; you still need a fuse or breaker to protect the wiring.
Are automotive switches okay for marine use?
Look for switches made for marine environments, with sealing and materials that resist moisture and corrosion.
Should the bilge pump be on the main battery switch?
Many installations wire an automatic bilge pump so it remains powered when the main switch is off, with its own fuse. Follow the pump maker's instructions.
